Our approach

Patient by design.

Our approach is simple to describe and demanding to practise. Buy carefully. Own patiently. Support the people who run the business. Keep our word.

What we look for

Quality first. Sector second. Size and postcode last.

Sectors: Sector-agnostic. We follow the quality of the business, not the label on the industry. Themes that interest us include business services, specialist industrial and engineering businesses, technology-enabled services and consumer brands with loyal customers.

Size: No rigid thresholds. What matters is the strength of the business, not its scale.

Geography: International. We are registered in England and Wales and look at opportunities in the United Kingdom, across Europe and further afield.

Situations: Succession, founder-led businesses seeking a permanent home, growth partnerships and carve-outs.

Structures: Full acquisitions, majority stakes and minority stakes.

Qualities: Durable economics, loyal customers, capable management, a good name and room to grow.

If your business does not fit every line, write to us anyway. The best opportunities rarely fit a template.

The situations we are built for

Succession

You built something that should outlast you. We are interested in owners and families who want to step back without stepping away from what they care about: the name, the people and the standards.

A permanent home

Some founders don't want a buyer. They want a successor. For founder-led businesses that want an owner with no plan to sell, we offer what most capital can't, which is time.

Growth partnerships

Ambition needs capital and patience in equal measure. We are interested in backing owners and management teams through a minority or majority stake, so that they keep running the business while we help it grow.

Carve-outs

Good divisions sometimes sit in the wrong group. We are interested in businesses that would flourish with an owner of their own and the focus that brings.

From first conversation to long-term partnership

1. Conversation

A first conversation, in confidence and without obligation. We listen to what you have built, what you want and the timetable you have in mind, and we tell you plainly how we work.

2. Understanding

If there is a fit, we study the business properly: its market, operations, finances and people. Our questions are focused. We will sign a non-disclosure agreement before sensitive information changes hands. If we are not the right owner, we say so early.

3. Structure

We agree terms that suit the business and the people who built it: a full acquisition, a majority stake or a minority stake. The terms are clear, the timetable is realistic, and we work constructively with your advisers.

4. Stewardship

Completion is the beginning. We stay close, supporting management, strengthening governance and operations, and planning for steady growth over years, not quarters.

No fixed exit date

We do not invest with an exit date in mind.

Our capital is our own. There is no fund life to run down and no investors waiting on a timetable. That changes the question we ask. We don't ask what a business will be worth when we sell it. We ask what it can become over a generation.

If we ever part with a business, it will be because we are no longer its right owner, not because a clock ran out.

What we bring

Capital is the start. Inside the businesses we own, and alongside our partners, we bring an owner's attention to the things that compound:

  • Strategy: a clear view of where the business should be in five and ten years.

  • Governance: a board rhythm, reporting and controls that support decision-making without slowing it.

  • Operations: practical improvement, done with management and not imposed on it.

  • Capital allocation: reinvesting where returns are durable, and saying no where they are not.

  • Continuity: a stable owner, so that customers, staff and suppliers can plan with confidence.

This support is for the businesses ARQOVIA owns and the partners we invest alongside. ARQOVIA does not offer it as a standalone consultancy service.

What owners can expect

  • Confidentiality, from the first conversation to completion and beyond.

  • A direct line to the decision-maker, throughout.

  • A fast, honest answer, including a fast no.

  • Respect for what you have built: its people, its customers and its name.

  • Autonomy where it is earned. Good management keeps running the business.

  • A long view. Decisions are made for the health of the business over years, not quarters.

Considering the future of your business?

We would value an initial, confidential conversation.
